Day 33 - Wawa to Montreal River

Ritchie & Caroline were on CBC Morning, this morning!  Very cool!
Here's the video we put together for them.  Evidently, they played various parts of it each hour.  Did anybody see it?  We didn't have any CBC reception, so unfortunately missed it.
Here's the culprit that made Ritchie and Caroline's last 10 km yesterday miserable.
The view for today (again).  We will have to do another trip up here to see all the things we've missed.  We see lots of lookouts and the only thing you can see is the sign and the fog.😡
Here's our Wandering Footsteps friends, Brittany and Bruno.  They were cruising along trying to spot Moose.  We pulled over at a checkpoint a little further down the road and they were parked there.  Had a great conversation with them.  I am so envious of the life they are leading.
Here's an awesome Rock Cut with large coloured blotches.  There are so many different patterns in the many rock cuts we pass through.
Stopped at Old Woman Bay for a gander.
The fog made for an interesting, but limited view.
For me, this is an iconic image; narrow shoulders, damp, wet, headwind, cold, monster climbs, but he keeps pressing on.
The view as we approached our destination for today, the Montreal River.
A tough, tough day as he did almost 1000 m of climbing!
Check the current of the Montreal River as it flows into Superior and meets the oncoming waves.
This is Randy, brother of the owner, he handles an axe like a paintbrush.  It's an art the way he so effortlessly splits the wood.  More about him later.
This is Randy's brother Dan, he makes one of the best burgers anywhere!  He looks burly, but was extremely friendly (and must have washed his hands a half dozen times while cooking).
The fries and rings were awesome too!
Back to Randy, this is a burl bowl that he made.  Lynn fell in love with it!  He said "Make me an offer", so we did and now it's snuggled under the bed in the RV!  A momento of this magnificent trip.
It's hard to capture the significance of this rock pile along the beach.  I tried several different angles, but nothing really does it.  Suffice to say that the rocks (or beach stones) were piled up about 8-10 feet high!  The power of Superior is absolutely amazing!
A great spot to take in the majesty of this part of the country.  Twilight Resort might not score high in a campground review for facilities, but the beauty combined with Randy and Dan's northern personalities made this one of our favourite stops so far.
This is Randy's current project.  He is making a swivel seat out of it.  It also has an amazing base (from the same piece) that looks like a huge paw!  It was absolutely stunning!
You know the weather must suck when the girls resort to colouring!
But that depends on the viewer.  I sat and watched the (partial) sunset as the fog "rolled" in off Superior.  Simply amazing and a perfect ending to the day.
