Day 34 - Montreal River to Sault Ste Marie.

Tuesday, June 20, 2017

Another foggy, cold, wet, rainy day as our cyclers got started this morning.  We caught up with them at Agawa Crafts.  Can anyone find Lynn hiding???
Very interesting set of stores (another had beautiful wood carvings) and offering FREE coffee!!
I wouldn't want to run into these guys along the way!
After a short tour and some fuel they were back on their way.

Chippewa River, one of the sights that we could actually SEE today.

We met up for lunch just off 17 at Harmony Beach and then they set off again.
This is where Caroline stopped.
A wise decision.
She rode 98 km with some nasty climbs (see below).

Ritchie logged 113 km to our destination today, Sault Ste Marie KOA, the most luxurious (and expensive) site to date!  Hot showers were waiting.

We were greeted by surprise visitors (to Ritchie anyways), his sister Darlene and husband Don who drove up to cheer him on.
We drove to Low & Slow Bar-B-Q Fusion Grille which was highly rated on Trip Advisor.  We weren't disappointed.  We all walked out with full bellies.
Ritchie and Caroline had a Superior Maple Stout.  We told Lynn to give it a taste since she LOVES Maple (but hates beer).  She took a sniff, mmmmmm, took a gulp which resulted in this face!!😂😂
This is our awesome waitress, Lisa Cachagee.  She was awesome!

She is a a very proud Cree Indian and her father is Michael Cachagee, a survivor of the Indian Residential School and one of the Children of Shingwauk.  Please read about him. click here.
Here he is receiving an apology from the Canadian Government.
Thanks to Lisa, when we got back to our trailer, we got a call from Chief Dean Sayers of the Batchawana First Nations Rankin Reserve.  Tomorrow is National Aboriginal Day and he invited us to the Pow Wow they are having at Whitefish Island (under the International Bridge).  He was very appreciative of what Ritchie and Caroline are doing for PTSD.

Another great adventure coming up!
